This enchanting city, located on the northern shore of Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost island, surprised us at every turn, and we can’t wait to share our unforgettable experiences with you!
1. Exploring the Historic Hakata District
One of the first places we visited was the historic Hakata District, the heart of Fukuoka. Here, we wandered through charming streets lined with traditional wooden buildings, bustling shopping arcades, and mouth-watering street food stalls. A must-try is Hakata ramen, known for its rich tonkotsu broth, which we found at numerous food stalls and restaurants.

2. Strolling Through Ohori Park
Next, we spent a delightful afternoon at Ohori Park, a serene oasis in the city. We particularly enjoyed renting a paddle boat and gliding across the water, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.

We were mesmerized by the sight of the sunset painting the sky in vibrant hues over the Genkai Sea.

4. Shopping and Entertainment at Tenjin
Shopping enthusiasts will love Tenjin, Fukuoka's vibrant commercial center. Here, we explored numerous department stores, boutiques, and underground shopping malls. The lively atmosphere, especially at night, is contagious, with street performers and food vendors adding to the excitement. We even stumbled upon a quirky themed café where we enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea!

Getting Around: Fukuoka City has an efficient public transportation system, including buses and a subway network. Purchasing a one-day pass for unlimited travel is an excellent option for tourists, costing around 620 yen (approximately $5.50 USD).
Language: While many signs are in English, learning a few basic Japanese phrases can enhance your experience.
